The Longwood Players, now known affectionately as "TLP," is a Boston-based nonprofit theater company. We were founded at Harvard's Longwood medical campus (est. 1998), and our first musical (Hair) was produced at the Massachusetts College of Art in spring 1999. TLP helped restore and refurbish that the Cambridge Family YMCA Theater in 2003, where we built our season and remained in residence until 2017. We next moved to Chelsea Theatre Works, where we continue to produce dramatic and musical productions. During the upcoming 2023-2024 theater season, TLP seeks new spaces and partnerships to continue creating theater that moves hearts, challenges minds, and inspires spirits.
TLP's mission is to foster personal and artistic growth among its participants while simultaneously enriching the cultural community through the art form of musical and theatrical productions.
We strive to produce theatre that is artistically interesting, intellectually stimulating, and socially compelling, and these are our guiding principles when selecting each theatre season.
Our members comprise individuals from all walks of life from the Greater Boston area and beyond. Our company includes long-time participants of theater, first-timers seeking a supportive artistic community, students of the dramatic arts, and even those headed for Broadway. Whatever your background or aspiration, we warmly welcome anyone with an interest in the art form of theatre to join our group, onstage or off.
